Curtain Up on Murder
A thriller by Bettine Manktelow

Produced by Andrea Varnavides

"An amateur drama company is rehearsing in the theatre at the end of a pier. Storms rage overhead and the doors are locked - they are trapped! Events take a sinister turn when a mysterious, ghostly presence passes across the stage, and when the Assistant Stage Manager falls to certain death through a trapdoor, the remaining actors are thrown into disarray. Their panic increases when one of the actresses is poisoned and it becomes evident that a murderer is in their midst - a murderer, it soon transpires, who will not stop until they are all dead…"

“an engaging and entertaining thriller, and a skilfully written piece of suspense.”

RoCo Dramatic Society

RoCo was formed when the church was Roundhay Congregational Church - hence the name. The society produces two plays a year, in March and November. Rehearsals take place on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 10.00pm for twelve weeks from January to March and September to November. There is a New Year's Party in January and an Annual Dinner in April or May, with social events in the summer months. Members also participate in drama for worship and in the musicals performed by the church. Occasionally we have play readings and visits to see other drama groups, both amateur and professional.

We are always happy to welcome new members, whether on stage or behind the scenes, with stage crew, wardrobe, make-up and stage management. As with most drama groups, men are in short supply!

We have recently introduced this web site and you can read about RoCo, our next production and our past productions.

We have a contact form where you can request information about joining RoCo as well as requesting tickets for productions.

You can see photographs of some of our past productions and we will be adding to these in the future.
